Our lug is busily getting ready for Software Freedom Day www.southernvaleslug.org/~sfd2006/
We meet on the second Tuesday of the month at the Seaford Hotel Conference Room @ 7:00pm. Our first meeting was held 14/03/2006.
If the Conference Room is booked for a function on Tues nights alternative arrangements are posted to our mailing list as we get the Conference Room free of charge.
Our website is www.southernvaleslug.org
We have a great site for our SFD event at Hallet Cove Baptist Church computer training room.
We are organising a BarCamp in Adelaide in early 2007. One of the tricky things is to find people that have interesting projects and encourage them to talk about their projects. It can be a simple 10 minute lightning talk, show and tell with tech, or an hour long presentation with in detail slides, or a hands on workshop...
Things we'd like to see or are hoping to see;
hands on is desirable
a slide show of steps, or a build process
tech-art
funkee Ajax applicatoins
diy robots
home made bicycles
bluetooth phone hacks
life of the LAN party case mods
anything tech/art/diy/make
java open source apps
python/php/perl lifestyle web apps
Please see the BarCamp site if you are interested; BarCampAdelaide
There are other events BarCamp evens happening, see; BarCampAustralia
I recently attended the Sydney one, and I think as long as you have enough people - you will have no shortage of interesting topics... once you reach critical mass the thing just drives itself... it's really fascinating to watch it happen... it's like mass hysteria, but in a good way!
Incidentally - I'm trying to get BarCampQld going for June or August - so if there are any Queenslanders reading this - get on over there.
